To meet the most personalized demands of high quality products Carrera developed the new model NERO. The unique feature of the NERO is the ability to make a monocoque carbon frame in custom size. The client is not subject to the size definations of a carbon mold but the frame can be created in custom form. Important for this design is the stringent K1 type carbon created by Toray Industry. The structure is put together by a lamination process of overlapping weaves with different angles to get stiffness and elasticity. Special aerospace resins hold the structure together. The tubing shapes optimize torsion rigidity and aerodynamic properties. The NERO was raced successfully by Dario Frigo in 2002 in the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France. Frigo loved the dynamic ride, the low weight and the smooth easy feel of the frame. The Nero is offered in 6 stock sizes from XS to XXL and in custom geometry.
