New Location

In May 2011, La Dolce Velo moved from our Stevens Creek location to 1280 The Alameda, San Jose - Many long-time residents remember the location as Andy’s Pet Shop, which occupied the space for more than 60 years. We were proud to take over such a cornerstone location in the downtown area. And we continue working hard to add to the tradition and recognition of this location.

The new location has proven much friendlier for bicycling to the front door. We’re conveniently located near downtown, but still far enough away to avoid the traffic that comes with such an urban location. And we quickly learned that being located close to Willow Glen, Shasta-Hanchett Roads, the San Jose Rose Garden, and both Santa Clara and San Jose State Universities, means an easy and safe ride to your favorite bike routes.

The demographics of the new neighborhood have kept the La Dolce Velo family on our toes. We’ve started carrying more commuter-friendly bikes, as well as family-oriented and recreational frames. The amount of walk-through traffic from the downtown area has opened up the opportunity to expand in this new direction. But don’t think that we’ve stopped paying attention to the roots of the shop. At our core, we still carry and maintain some of the most technologically advanced road and tri frames from Bianchi, Jamis, and Pinarello. And we continue carrying some special one-off frames and representative bikes from Surly, Salsa, and Norco, which usually means there’s something new every time you visit the shop. It’s also helped us continue improving our inventory display and floor layout.

Perhaps the best part for our customers (or the most dangerous part for our employees), is the surrounding neighborhood. Instead of our location being surrounded by car dealerships and heavy traffic, La Dolce Velo now shares a neighborhood with great coffee shops, eateries, and other small businesses the give our visitors more reason to stay and enjoy the neighborhood.

As we approach our one-year anniversary in our new location, we look forward to continue growing into our space. And we look forward to seeing all of you in your neighborhood bicycle shop soon.
