Cervelo hides the rear brake from the wind, but not from the rider. The shaped seatstays effectively reduce aerodynamic drag and improve air flow over the rear brake caliper while leaving it in an easy-to-access position on the frame.
Cervelo P3 (Dura-Ace) - 2014
Details
Cervelo's P3 is stiff, light, and above all, aerodynamic. A paper-thin, hourglass head tube, airfoil down tube, integrated seat tube, deep rear wheel cut out, and sculpted seatstays and chainstays eradicate turbulence. Cervelo's proven geometry, aero fork, and slippery 2-position seatpost ensure an ideal ergonomic platform with fantastic handling. The P3 is equipped with a blissfully smooth, accurate Shimano Dura-Ace drivetrain and Rotor's stiff cranks. Plus, you get Mavic's Cosmic Elite wheelset, Magura's sculpted hydraulic rim brakes, components from 3T, and ISM's comfortable Prologue saddle so you can focus on driving the cranks. From time trials to triathlons, Cervelo's P3 is ready to dominate.
With the increasing prevalence of electronic controls, the permanently bonded-in ICS3 guide tubes are no longer required for proper shifting performance. Leaving them out simplifies electronic installation and saves weight.
Cervelo engineered BBstop to accommodate all shifting options (mechanical and electronic) in a single design. BBstop incorporates a stop in their Single-Bend bottom bracket guide, permitting the use of cable housing through the down tube. This stop prevents housing shift (fore-and-aft) and fixes the axial position of the housing where it enters and exits the frame for consistent bend radii.
The P3 offers multiple storage options, each one specifically positioned to minimize aero drag so you’re always ready to race. It's designed for a frame-mounted battery on the downtube.
It also feature a horizontal, standard two-bolt bottle cage between the arms on the aerobar, which Cervelo has found to be, by far, the most aero position. Two mounting bolts are also incorporated behind the stem to allow for further aero storage options.
Shielding Seatstays
Dropping the down tube “hides” it in dirty air, reducing the high pressure normally found on the down tube’s leading edge, and eliminating the low pressure air that normally pulls rearward on the fork crown.
Magura's low-profile hydraulic rim brakes improve aerodynamics, provide smooth, powerful braking, and are easy to adjust.

I upgraded from an aluminum P2K frame to the P3C last season. WOW! I purchased the frameset so I could select my preferred components and couldn't be happier. I have found that I can ride many more miles in comfort and that the frame is very light and responsive for anything from a short TT to a rolling Ironman course. People are always astounded at how light the complete bike is and I can attest it sure makes a difference on the hills. My only complaint is that you need to be very careful when it comes to either over or under tightening the seatpost. Overall this is an awesome, comfortable yet racy bike!!

Comments:
Upgraded from a P2C to a P3C this year. Mainly used for long course Triathlon specifically Ironmans. Bike is fast, handles well, climbs well for a TT bike. Good geometry (For long torsos) and very aero. Standard wheelset is not so great and definitely swap out the Stock Vittoria slicks that come with it. Love this bike!!
