Cervelo's T4 unites stealthy aerodynamics with unrelenting stiffness, delivering a frameset worthy of bone-crushing sprints and cat-like maneuvering. Borrowing from Cervelo's P-Series time trial frames, the T4 incorporates aero features like an ultra-thin head tube that's integrates with a bladed fork and a built-up airfoil down tube/seat tube junction. The front wheel cutout minimizes drag and the deep rear wheel cutout maximizes the benefits of your aero rear wheel. Tight, racy geometry means this full-carbon monster responds to the slightest push of the pedals, eager to leap when you ask.
Smartwall intelligently redistributes material around the tube cross-section to increase lateral and torsional stiffness, while adding as little weight as possible. Most unwanted frame flex is out of plane, putting one side in compression and the other side in tension. Thus, material farthest from the center plane has the greatest effect on improving stiffness. Smartwall adds material only at the outside walls, farthest from the center plane, to maximize lateral stiffness and minimize weight.
By shielding the rear wheel from the wind, this extended cutout yields one of the largest single reductions in aerodynamic drag, while allowing the wheel to maintain its own aerodynamic advantages.
